Chapter 2: Naughty Stone Monkey creates a commotion in the Dragon Palace while borrowing treasures.

Before Sun Wukong finished speaking, the treasure became shorter by a few feet and thinner by a circle. Sun Wukong looked at it and said: “It would be even better if it were thinner.” The treasure really became much thinner. Wukong took it and saw that it was written on it: “Ruyi Golden Cudgel, weighing thirteen thousand five hundred catties”. He played with it for a while and felt that it was very good to use.

Back in the Crystal Palace, Sun Wukong also asked the Dragon King to send him a suit of clothes to match. The Dragon King really had none, but he was afraid that Wukong would make trouble. He had to ring the emergency golden bell and called in the Dragon Kings of the South, North, and West Seas: Ao Qin, Ao Shun, and Ao Run. The three brothers put together a golden armor, a phoenix-winged purple gold crown, and a pair of lotus silk cloud-walking shoes for Wukong.

Back on Flower Fruit Mountain, Wukong found out that the golden cudgel could become as small as an embroidery needle and hide in his ears. One day, he invited all the demon kings to have a feast. He got drunk and fell asleep under a pine tree by the bridge. He saw two people holding papers with “Sun Wukong” written on them in a daze. They walked up to him without saying a word, put a rope around him, and dragged him away.

Wukong followed them to a city gate in a daze. He saw a sign on the city tower that read “Underworld” in big characters. He knew that this was where the King of Hell lived. He turned around and wanted to leave, but two soul-reaping ghosts held him tightly and insisted on taking him in. Sun Wukong was furious. He took out his golden cudgel from his ears and smashed the two ghosts into meat sauce.
