Tang Monk rode his horse along the mountain road, walking for half a day without seeing anyone. He was thirsty and hungry, and wanted to find some water to drink. Suddenly he saw two ferocious tigers in front of him, opening their mouths wide. He looked around and saw that behind him was a poisonous snake spitting out red letters, on his left were poisonous insects, and on his right were some wild beasts he had never seen before. Tang Monk was trapped in the middle, not knowing what to do, so he had to resign himself to fate.
At this critical moment, the wild beasts suddenly ran away. Tang Monk looked around in surprise, and saw a big man with a steel fork and a bow and arrow walking down from the hillside. Tang Monk quickly knelt down and clasped his hands, shouting: “Great King, save me!” The big man lifted up Tang Monk and said: “I am not any great king, just a hunter, named Liu Boqin.”
Liu Boqin invited Tang Monk to his home as a guest. Tang Monk was very happy, and led his horse to Liu Boqin’s house. The next day, Tang Monk wanted to hit the road. Liu Boqin followed his mother’s wishes, brought a few people, and took some hunting tools to escort Tang Monk. They walked for half a day and came to a big mountain.
They walked to the middle of the mountain, and Liu Boqin and others stopped and said: “Master, you are about to reach the Two Realms Mountain. The east side of the mountain belongs to Great Tang, and the west side is the territory of Tartars. We cannot go there. You go by yourself, and be careful along the way!” Tang Monk had to say goodbye to them, and suddenly heard someone shouting from the foot of the mountain: “Master, come here! Master, come here!”
