The master and disciple continued their journey to the west. One day, they came to Snake-Coiled Mountain and Eagle-Sorrow Stream, where a white dragon suddenly emerged from the stream, rushing towards Tang Monk with its claws. Sun Wukong hurriedly carried Tang Monk on his back and flew away on a cloud. The dragon couldn’t catch up with Sun Wukong, so it opened its mouth and swallowed the white horse, then dived back into the deep stream.
Sun Wukong settled his master in a safe place. He turned back to the stream to get the horse and luggage, but found that the horse was gone. He thought it must have been eaten by the white dragon, so he cursed at the stream: “You rotten mudfish, spit out my horse!” The white dragon heard someone scolding him, and his eyes turned red with anger. He jumped out of the water and pounced on Sun Wukong with his teeth and claws.
The dragon was no match for Sun Wukong at all. After a few rounds, he was sweating all over and turned to flee into the water. Sun Wukong cursed for a while, but didn’t see the white dragon come out. He used his skill of turning rivers and seas upside down, making the clear stream muddy and turbid.
The dragon couldn’t stand it in the water, so he braced himself and jumped out, fighting with Sun Wukong again. After dozens of rounds, the white dragon was unable to fight anymore. He shook his body and turned into a water snake, hiding in the grass. Sun Wukong quickly chased after him, but couldn’t even find the snake’s shadow. He was so angry that he gnashed his teeth.
