So, Sun Wukong recited a spell and summoned the mountain god and the earth god, asking them where the white dragon came from. The mountain god and the earth god cautiously said: “This white dragon is waiting for you here by Guanyin Bodhisattva’s order, to go with you to get the scriptures.” Sun Wukong was furious when he heard this, and wanted to find Guanyin Bodhisattva to reason with her.
Guanyin Bodhisattva knew everything beforehand, and came to Eagle-Sorrow Stream on a cloud. She told Sun Wukong: “This white dragon was originally the son of the Dragon King of the West Sea. He committed a capital crime, but I pleaded for him and let him be Tang Monk’s mount. Without this dragon horse, you can’t go to the west.” Sun Wukong anxiously said: “He’s hiding in the water and won’t come out. What should we do?”
Guanyin Bodhisattva smiled and shouted to the stream. The white dragon immediately turned into a handsome young man and came to the bodhisattva’s side. The bodhisattva said: “Little White Dragon, your master has arrived!” She took off the night pearl from the white dragon’s neck, dipped some sweet dew with a willow branch, waved it over his body, blew a breath of fairy air, and shouted “Change”. The white dragon turned into a white horse.
Guanyin Bodhisattva told Sun Wukong to lead the white horse to see Tang Monk, and then went back to Mount Lankavatara in the South Sea. Sun Wukong led the horse, happily came to Tang Monk’s side. Tang Monk stroked the horse’s head with his hand and said: “Good horse, good horse, where did you find this horse?” Sun Wukong told him what had happened. Tang Monk quickly bowed his head to the south, thanking Guanyin Bodhisattva.
