Chapter 6: Guanyin Temple's battle for the precious kasaya.

This fire attracted a monster. It turned out that there was a Black Wind Mountain south of the Guanyin Temple, and in the Black Wind Cave on the mountain lived a Black Wind Monster. He saw the temple on fire from afar, and thought of looting some things while taking advantage of the fire. So he flew into the abbot’s room on a cloud, and saw a bundle on the table emitting golden light. He opened it and saw that it was a priceless cassock.

The Black Wind Monster stole the cassock and flew back to his cave on a cloud. Sun Wukong just sat on the roof and blew fire, but didn’t notice the Black Wind Monster. When it was almost dawn, Sun Wukong saw that the fire was almost out, so he put away the Fire-Proof Cover and returned it to the Wide-Eyed Heavenly King. He went back to the meditation room and gently woke up his master.

Tang Monk opened the door and saw that there were black charred wood everywhere in the yard. The good Guanyin Temple was gone, and he was very surprised. Sun Wukong told him what had happened last night. Tang Monk thought of his cassock, and went with Sun Wukong to look for it. The monks in the temple saw them, thinking that they were ghosts, and knelt down and begged for mercy.

The hunchbacked old monk saw that his temple was burned, and his cassock was gone. He was angry, and heard that Tang Monk didn’t die, and came to get his cassock back. He was so scared that he didn’t know what to do. Finally, he made up his mind, and hit his head against the wall. Blood gushed out, and he died on the spot. Tang Monk knew about it later, and blamed Sun Wukong for saying “Alas! Disciple, why did you have to compete with others for wealth? What should we do now?”
