Chapter 9: The Sha Monk from the Flowing Sand River pays homage to his master.

Hearing the call, the demon quickly emerged from the water. Muzha said, "Meet your master and fellow disciples!" The demon tidied up his clothes and paid his respects to Tang Monk. Tang Monk was delighted to accept another disciple. He shaved the demon's head and named him Sha Monk.

Sha Monk removed the nine skulls hanging around his neck and threaded them on a rope. Then, he attached Guanyin Bodhisattva's red gourd to it and threw it into the river, where it transformed into a small boat. With the help of Pigsy and Monk Sha, Tang Monk boarded the boat, heading for the western bank, while Wukong led the White Dragon Horse, following closely behind.

Upon reaching the shore, Muzha took back the red gourd, and the skulls immediately turned into nine gusts of wind, disappearing in a short while. Tang Monk thanked Muzha, then turned south to express his gratitude to Guanyin Bodhisattva. Afterwards, he mounted the White Dragon Horse and, with his three disciples, continued their westward journey.
