Chapter 10: Zhu Bajie’s Failed Marriage with the Four Bodhisattvas

At this time, the door next to them opened, and the woman came in with her three daughters, wearing beautiful clothes, walking with small steps, and greeted Tang Monk and his disciples. Tang Monk clasped his hands and bowed his head chanting Amitabha. Sun Wukong looked up and ignored them. Sha Monk turned around and dared not look at them more. Only Bajie stared at them without blinking.

After greeting them, the woman asked her daughters to go back to the inner room, and then asked Tang Monk: “Which disciple of the elder is willing to marry my daughter?” Tang Monk, Wukong, and Sha Monk all looked at Bajie together. Bajie still pretended to be reluctant. Wukong stepped forward and grabbed Bajie’s hand and put it in the woman’s hand, saying: “Didn’t you already agree on it? Go and worship heaven and earth!”

Bajie was still pretending, although he said he was unwilling, he had already left the front hall, followed the woman around, and came to the back room. Bajie was so eager that he wanted to worship heaven and earth right away. The woman covered Bajie’s head with a veil, and let her three daughters walk around him, saying that whoever he caught, she would marry him.

Bajie was under the veil, hearing someone walking around him, but when he reached out to catch them, he either hugged a pillar or hit a wall. He ran around the room in a hurry, but the more anxious he was, the more he could not catch anyone. Finally he was so tired that he gasped for breath, and could not run anymore. He sat on the ground with a thud.
