Chapter 10: Zhu Bajie’s Failed Marriage with the Four Bodhisattvas

But Bajie did not give up, and proposed to the woman to marry all three daughters to him. The woman disagreed, and took out a sweatshirt covered with pearls from the room, saying: “My daughters each knitted one, and whoever you can wear, I will marry her to you.”

Bajie was very happy when he heard this, and quickly took off his black coat and put on the sweatshirt covered with pearls. But before he could tie his belt, he fell to the ground with a “thud”. The sweatshirt turned into several ropes in the blink of an eye, and tied Bajie tightly. No matter how hard he tried, he could not break free.

Meanwhile, Tang Monk, Wukong and Sha Monk, after Bajie was taken away, the woman immediately sent a lot of delicious food. After eating, they slept in the front hall. When they woke up, the east was already white. Tang Monk was in a hurry to hit the road, opened his eyes and saw that the luxurious houses they lived in were gone. They were sleeping in the wild.

Tang Monk was frightened and quickly woke up Wukong and Sha Monk. Wukong looked back and saw that there was a note hanging on an old cypress tree opposite, fluttering slightly in the wind. He walked over and pulled down the note, showed it to his master, and then understood that the four women last night were transformed by Lishan Old Mother, Guanyin, Puxian and Manjusri Bodhisattvas, who came to test their determination to go to the west.
